Larian Studios Reveal a Latest Divinity, Calling it Their Most Ambitious RPG Yet
The speculation around The Game Awards reached a fever pitch, especially after host Geoff Keighley shared an enigmatic photo of a strange statue. The mystery has been revealed. Larian Studios is working on a completely new Divinity game.
Announced as Divinity, the game was debuted with a daring trailer that included striking imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to an orgy and the literal opening of infernal gates.
A Different Direction
Anyone expecting Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. The studio warned that a direct sequel to its critically acclaimed RPGs is not being worked on now.
However, the developer described this new Divinity as a evolution of the main series. This phrasing suggests that the team is likely designing a more action-oriented experience rather than another tactical title. Currently, we can only guess, as only a announcement clip is available.
What Makes Divinity Special
The Divinity series is widely praised and arguably it sparked the recent resurgence of deep computer role-playing games. These games are celebrated for rich lore, branching plots, and complex character building—traits that subsequently reached new heights in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its world is familiar fare, what makes Divinity apart is the unprecedented level of trust bestowed upon the player.
While numerous modern RPGs have streamlined options, Divinity is packed with unique possibilities only possible with a distinct build with a personal story.
The series is also wonderfully permissive, letting players to experiment in narrative and gameplay. Nearly every quest can be completed in a variety of manners, sometimes in lateral fashion.
- You might find an answer because you remembered something a non-human character said.
- Or, you could defeat a foe by teleporting a glob of lava in a unorthodox way.
The Journey Continues
